Introduction to Maharashtrian Cuisine


Maharashtrian cuisine:
True like the simple people who live here, in the wid-western state of India, Maharashtra carries its unique resembles from its rich history, culture and modern industrialisation. The Maharashtrian food is mind blowing and tongue licking. The food here is dominated by strong aroma with unique blend of strong masalas accompanied by ginger and garlic but yet simple and healthy. Many vegetables like brinjals, tomatoes, patatoes, ladies finger, cauliflower etc are prepared with spicy masala and seasoned with vegetable oil and cooked tenderly. This brings out the very taste of the vegetables since its cooked in its own juice and thus makes it healthy.And these dishes can be made more healthy by reducing the amount of oil and adding water to it ,yet it would taste the same. The stare is famous for its VADA PAV which is somewhere close to burgers yet not costly and promises to fills a common man’s tummy. The state in itself varies in food with respect to place ranging from konkan to ratnagiri. But one thing which can be found everywhere is its simplicty. Fish curries add to its rich food culture. Here in this section, i shall try to cover most of the Maharashtrian dishes in simple way without much changes to its authenticity.
